I need help in finding a sharpening kit for my older model American brand reel lawn mower. All the info included is for Scotts reel mower. I am single, and have really no help to speak of . My mower I purchased at a garage sale for 10 dollars , a few years back in dull. I cannot seem to find any information regarding my mower. I cannot find lawn and yard business, who is willing to do the job for me. How difficult is it to do this myself and will any kit do? What do i need to be looking for in a kit anyway?

I am noticing that my mower is becoming harder to push and I can hear squeeing coming from the wheels. Where is the best place to oil the mower and what type of lube do you recomend.

Thanks Bill

I have an 18″ craftsman reel mower. I bought the sandpaper strip sharpening kit. I cannot get the blades away from the cutter bar far enough to get the strip fastened unto the cutter bar. I have loosened and tightened as far as I can, but it won’t work. Any suggestions? I thought this method would be better than the crank type sharpening kit which I bought a couple years ago–new compound is expensive.
